STRASBOURG EUROPEAN FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL
Strasbourg’s European Fantastic Film Festival, created by Spectre Films, began as a thematic festival in 2006. Increasingly subsidised by local and regional authorities, we now hold competitions for the best European short and feature film, with an international jury awarding the Golden Octopus.

We bring in film crews to meet the public, hold conferences, lectures and forums, vintage poster and other exhibitions, workshops, midnight movies, and, are tuned in to the latest cinema technology – we were the first to bring digital 3D to Strasbourg.

Particularly committed to the retrospective, we believe that if cinema’s rich history is left to fade, we can be no more than half-blind viewers of its legacy today. Our tributes have honoured Hammer Studios, Ray Harryhausen, James Whale, 50s sci-fi, with many more in the planning.

In short, our aim is a hold a lively, multifaceted event – bringing people together to enhance their knowledge, talk cinema, see 35 mm revivals on the silver screen, and have a rocking good time. There is something for everyone – from the Nosferatu to the Mary Poppins crowd, from the obsessed film buff to the casual film goer. All in a mind-bogglingly beautiful city on the Ill River, home of the European institutions, medieval wonders and Alsatian gastronomy. Right in the shadows of a brooding Gothic cathedral where Dracula would have loved to hang out.

Deadline for submissions: July 15, 2010
